When conductors worldwide all of a sudden were without their instrument, Quarantine Classics and Dirigentløftet teamed up with leading conductors in sharing sessions. Music Directors Sascha Goetzel and Eivind Gullberg Jensen created a series to share how they work to prepare for being in front of the orchestra. During Quarantine this series developed to be important arena for ambitious young conductors from all over the world. To be inspired, to be supported and to BE PREPARED.

It's all about – to be prepared for the orchestra. We will talk about problems that can arrive and give options of how to solve it. We will also build awareness of how to read the score in such a way, to anticipate the challenges - not for the conductor alone, but also the orchestra. So before the young conductors give the 1st upbeat - the already have awareness and prepared a toolbox to achieve their goals with the musicians of the orchestra, musically and technically.

His commitment to explore most diverse orchestral sounds and performance practice, is reflected in his repertoire and programming, ranging from Renaissance to Contemporary and Experimental music.

Throughout his more than ten years as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, he has led the ensemble to internationally acclaimed high artistic standards and garnered worldwide recognition with unique programming, CD recordings and multiple tours, as well as guest appearances at the Salzburg Festival, BBC Proms, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Teatre des Champs-Elysees, Royal Concertgebouw and Vienna’s Musikverein as well Konzerthaus. Bjørn Sagstad er utdannet ved musikkonservatoriene i Bergen, Trondheim og Tromsø, ved Royal Northern College of Music – Manchester og ved flere mesterklasser i Norge, Sverige, Danmark, Østerrike, Tsjekkia og USA med Jorma Panula, Tsung Yeh og Ragnar Rasmussen som lærere. Bjørn vant NM i janitsjar med Musikkforeningen Nidarholm i 2019. Gjennom denne digitale serien vil Bjørn dele erfaringer og tanker om forberedelser opp mot NM, EM, prøvespill og andre større prosjekt.

1. september – Mål – Hva er poenget? Tankesett og strukturer som avgjør valgene man tar

Sagstad har vært kunstnerisk leder for Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps i Bergen, Kristiansand Blåseensemble/Kristiansand Symfoniorkester, Kristiansund Symfoniorkester/Operaen i Kristiansund og Prinsens Forsvarskorps i Danmark. Han har også vært involvert i utviklingen av the Palestinian Youth Orchestra i Ramallah. Sagstad har vunnet den Nordiske Dirigentkonkurranse i Sverige og har mottatt flere priser, fond og legater.

Sagstad er dirigentlærer ved Grieg Akademiet og har engasjementer ved Universitetene NTNU, UiB, UiS, UiT, Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Danmark), Prins Claus Konservatoriet i Groningen (Nederland) og i Singapore, i tillegg til Sherborne Summerschool of music (England) og Dirigentveka i Stavanger. Bjørn Sagstad er også en ettertraktet foredragsholder.

It's all about – to be prepared for the orchestra. We will talk about problems that can arrive and give options of how to solve it. We will also build awareness of how to read the score in such a way, to anticipate the challenges - not for the conductor alone, but also the orchestra. So before the young conductors give the 1st upbeat - the already have awareness and prepared a toolbox to achieve their goals with the musicians of the orchestra, musically and technically.

Seson 2 of Be prepared is all about musical connections. Music life is slowly getting back on track and we prepare for live master classes next season focusing on the core repertoire building the foundation for any 21st century Music Director.

Bjørn Sagstad er utdannet ved musikkonservatoriene i Bergen, Trondheim og Tromsø, ved Royal Northern College of Music – Manchester og ved flere mesterklasser i Norge, Sverige, Danmark, Østerrike, Tsjekkia og USA med Jorma Panula, Tsung Yeh og Ragnar Rasmussen som lærere. Bjørn vant NM i janitsjar med Musikkforeningen Nidarholm i 2019. Gjennom denne digitale serien vil Bjørn dele erfaringer og tanker om forberedelser opp mot NM, EM, prøvespill og andre større prosjekt.

Sagstad har vært kunstnerisk leder for Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps i Bergen, Kristiansand Blåseensemble/Kristiansand Symfoniorkester, Kristiansund Symfoniorkester/Operaen i Kristiansund og Prinsens Forsvarskorps i Danmark. Han har også vært involvert i utviklingen av the Palestinian Youth Orchestra i Ramallah. Sagstad har vunnet den Nordiske Dirigentkonkurranse i Sverige og har mottatt flere priser, fond og legater.

Sagstad er dirigentlærer ved Grieg Akademiet og har engasjementer ved Universitetene NTNU, UiB, UiS, UiT, Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Danmark), Prins Claus Konservatoriet i Groningen (Nederland) og i Singapore, i tillegg til Sherborne Summerschool of music (England) og Dirigentveka i Stavanger. Bjørn Sagstad er også en ettertraktet foredragsholder.

Bjørn vant NM i janitsjar med Musikkforeningen Nidarholm i 2019. Gjennom denne digitale serien vil Bjørn dele erfaringer og tanker om forberedelser opp mot NM, EM, prøvespill og andre større prosjekt.

Serien består av fire samlinger:

27. mai – Introduksjon – Hva kan du forvente?
1. september – Mål – Hva er poenget? Tankesett og strukturer som avgjør valgene man tar
3. november – Prosessen
19. Januar – Resultat

Sagstad har vært kunstnerisk leder for Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps i Bergen, Kristiansand Blåseensemble/Kristiansand Symfoniorkester, Kristiansund Symfoniorkester/Operaen i Kristiansund og Prinsens Forsvarskorps i Danmark. Han har også vært involvert i utviklingen av the Palestinian Youth Orchestra i Ramallah. Sagstad har vunnet den Nordiske Dirigentkonkurranse i Sverige og har mottatt flere priser, fond og legater.

Sagstad er dirigentlærer ved Grieg Akademiet og har engasjementer ved Universitetene NTNU, UiB, UiS, UiT, Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Danmark), Prins Claus Konservatoriet i Groningen (Nederland) og i Singapore, i tillegg til Sherborne Summerschool of music (England) og Dirigentveka i Stavanger. Bjørn Sagstad er også en ettertraktet foredragsholder.

As conductors worldwide all of a sudden are without their instrument, Quarantine Classics and Dirigentløftet teams up with leading conductors in sharing sessions. Music Directors Sascha Goetzel and Eivind Gullberg Jensen will share how they work to prepare for being in front of the orchestra.

It's all about – to be prepared for the orchestra. We will talk about problems that can arrive and give options of how to solve it. We will also build awareness of how to read the score in such a way, to anticipate the challenges - not for the conductor alone, but also the orchestra. So before the young conductors give the 1st upbeat - the already have awareness and prepared a toolbox to achieve their goals with the musicians of the orchestra, musically and technically.
