A long-term commitment to strengthening and developing the level and competence of conducting in Norway.

The Norwegian Conductors’ Program, `Dirigentløftet´ was established in 2018 and is a long-term commitment to strengthening and developing the level and competence of conducting in Norway to its full potential. Conductors are key to the success of any ensemble. They take on the responsibility of continuity in core values, performance traditions and repertoire knowledge, and can be catalysts for development and innovation. That’s why we consider an investment in our conductors to be an investment in our entire musical community - past, present and future. Having a high level of competence among conductors in Norway is important for all of us.

Dirigentløftet contributes to mobilizing the entire Norwegian musical sector, from volunteers and municipal performing arts schools, high schools and universities, amateur orchestras, choirs and bands, to all the professional Norwegian musical institutions. Together we aim to develop and shape our future musical leaders. We also invest systematically in the competence of the many music teachers and conductors who work with youth.

At the Dirigentforum- level we have established several high-end national programs that aim at developing our most prominent conducting talents to an international level.

In an average year, we have hundreds of courses and activities across the country. Most of these activities are carried out by organizations that contribute and collaborate with Dirigentløftet. Talent Norway is in charge of the Dirigentforum programs, while Sparebankstiftelsen DNB is in charge of all open activities.

There are over 300 courses and activities each year?
