National talent development program for conductors in their teens and early twenties
The talent development program Dirigentforum Junior is carried out at the Barratt Due music institute, commissioned by Dirigentløftet. The program has approximately eight places and is an offer for young people from all over Norway.
The target group are young talents who are motivated to use their time to cultivate and develop their conducting skills. Most of the participants in this program are aged 16 to 22. Participants get access to six weekend gatherings per year where they get to conduct a composite orchestra consisting of a mix of professional musicians and selected music students. The repertoire in Young conductors is strongly oriented towards the core repertoire in orchestral literature. The supervisors for this program are Alf Årdal and Eivind Aadland.
The participants in Dirigentforum Junior also get access to coaching through Talent Norway.
Participants are admitted annually after application to the programme. Admission takes place in the spring/summer, starting the following season. Calls for applications are announced at dirigentloftet.no.
